Minecraft is popular because it allows you to do some many interesting, unique, and quirky things. One thing that has become very popular is the ability to take to the skies. Depending on what minecraft flying mod you use this can open up a whole other branch to the game, and it’s one that is very interesting and empowering to any Minecraft player.

Benefits of using a Minecraft flying mod

View:The first benefit of using a Minecraft flying mod is being able to get a better of view of your surroundings. This means that you can get a bird’s eye view of the environment to help you find resources and plan where to build and dig. For example you may be building yourself some form of mega palace and decide that you need to build in a certain direction because of something you’ve noticed whilst hovering aloft. Alternatively you may decide you need to build a safe house, tree house, or panic room in a certain place because the terrain or location of your main building means you’ll be vulnerable whilst exploring certain areas of land.

Escape:The other about being able to fly is that it can be a very effective means of escaping zombies, creepers and other baddies. If you have a mob hot on your tail you can simply take to the skies for a while until things cool off. It can also be quite satisfying to seem them hungry for your blood but unable to explode all over you.

Controlling Minecraft is very easy and natural thing, once you know what you’re doing. It can take a bit of getting used to before you feel like you can interact, explore, and enjoy the game to it’s fullest. The overriding message here is do not panic or become too frustrated, you will find things become easier really quickly.

Creepers are an iconic Minecraft legend and for a LOT of great reasons they’re also the most famous and popular mob baddies in the game. Today we’ll go through and discover what makes them so magical, what they’re behavior is like, and how to thwart their evil plans with some deadly defense skills and some building tricks and traps that’ll have them on the run. You’ll learn:

• What a Creeper is and how to recognize one
• What they do and how they behave
• Why they’re useful and how to obtain great items from them
• What wards them off and makes them flee like scared little kids
• How to kill them with the minimum of fuss in battle
• How to set up the defense of your home and buildings to keep yourself safe
• Advanced building and combat methods to kill them even when you’re not around

How to recognize a Creeper

It’s fair to say that Creepers aren’t the most handsome of chaps; in fact they’re pretty gruesome looking! They are a mottled green creature with grey flecks that travels about on four stumpy little legs but that have no hands. They have dark blacks holes for eyes and mouth curved down like a rainbow to reveal their sadness at your being alive. Charming!

Creepy behavior

Creepers are a mob enemy in Minecraft that perhaps not too surprisingly creep up on people and then explode, often doing a lot of damage to buildings, the environment, and of course us. These explosions can cause havoc to our building plans and to our health and are one of the reasons why Creepers are so notorious within the Minecraft community. They’re explosions have a power level of 3. This is 75% of the power of TNT, so it packs a pretty good punch. However a charged Creeper is a different kettle of monster. They have damage level twice that of a normal Creeper, and 50% more than TNT. So these guys are not to be taken lightly.

The problem is with Creepers is they are pretty persistent, nimble, and will track you across 16 blocks. Mazes, steps, and rough terrain are no match for them and they will hunt through these will relative ease. The name Creeper implies that they will creep up on you and they certainly do just that. Usually you will be merrily digging or working away and suddenly Boom! You will find yourself on the end of a Creeper attack that puts an end to all your well thought out plans.

Charged Creepers can be recognized by a distinctive blue charged like aura surrounding them. You will come across a charged Creeper if lightening strikes within 3-4 blocks of an average Joe Creeper. The only upside to a charged Creeper is that the lighten strike actually causes damage to them and so they are a swifter kill than regular Creepers.

When Creepers go in for the kill they will get within 1 block from a player give them a nasty hiss and sarcastic comment, start flashing, and then explode causing a fair bit of damage. You can avoid this by either dashing from their blast radius (4 blocks) or by killing them before they detonate, but you have to kill them within about a second of them coming close to you.

Another thing to note is that Creepers are highly afraid of cats and will run from them or an ocelot as well. Even if the player they are tracking is close the Creeper will turn on its heels and flee away from the cat until it reaches safety. However the Creeper will not flew outside its spotting distance so will often return to track the player, and if the cat is still around will flee again. So you will have to take some action to end its hunt. Whether it’s to finish the Creeper off or get to safety.

Do not be afraid! Creepers come bearing gifts

One of the great things about Creepers is that they are one of the best ways to get yourself a fine stock of gunpowder. You see once you slay one of these little rascals you will receive up to two units of gunpowder which you can then use to produce TNT. Not bed for a quick slice and dice job. Although it should be noted that even in death Creepers can cause us a nuisance as not every Creeper will provide you with gunpowder goodness, some will leave you empty handed.

The other little treat that we can gain from Creepers is music discs. However this isn’t as easy to obtain as getting gunpowder out of them. Music discs are only dropped by a Creeper if the fatal blow that finishes it off is delivered by a skeleton. So you need to take it’s health down (one fully charged arrow, and two none charged arrow shots) and then use the Creeper as a shield between yourself and a skeleton. When the skeleton shoots it will finish off the Creeper and voila you have yourself a music disc. You will then be able to use this in a jukebox for some smooth grooving.

Let’s finish this!

This easiest and safest way to destroy a creeper is by using arrows so that a safe distance is kept between you and it. Two fully charged arrows will usually do the tricks. You can of course use your sword and axe and many a Creeper has fallen this way. Of course Diamonds swords are pretty efficient here and three direct blows will bring about a swift end to the altercation. Also if you own a knockback enchanted sword then this will ensure the Creeper is repeatedly kept at a safe distance between strikes until the battle is finished.

You can also bury a Creeper by placing a block of sand or gravel on top of it when you are stood above it. It is a slow and some might say cruel death, but needs must in the world of Minecraft.

Home sweet home

It’s important you consider protecting your buildings from Creepers and using the proper building materials, doors, and switch plates is crucial. It’s essential you think about safety and protection when you are building a house and not just the aesthetics. You may also build safe buildings for when you are out and about, and a tree house can be a great little place to stop off if you’re fleeing or hiding from an enemy.

There’s also a number of creative way to keep Creepers at a safe distance:

Moats: Building a moat and filling it with water or lava is a great way to keep Creepers of give them a grisly end if they try to get to you.

Deadfalls: Creating a checker pattern series of holes 3 blocks deep will capture enemies until the sun can burn them or until Creeper re-spawn. You can use a draw-bridge or s-shaped path to navigate through.

Cactus fields: Similar to a deadfall except you grow cactuses which will cause mob’s damage as they try to navigate through.

Ring of cats: Pretty simple you create a ring of cats around your property. This will keep Creepers away and you can safely dig and build to your hearts content.

Panic rooms: a panic room made of obsidian will obviously provide a lot of protection. Of course other blast resistant materials work well too. This can be built as a last resort and it’s comforting knowing you have a place to go should a Creeper penetrate your defenses.

Watch towers: Using glass to give you a clear view of what may be waiting outside will at least give you a heads up before you venture out. If you see a Creeper face or anything that looks like Creeper skin beware. The ways you can construct this are limited only by your imagination, so have fun with it.

Diamonds come in a few forms within Minecraft. In its elemental form it is an ore, an item and a block. However it can also be formed and take the form of interesting and useful items such as swords, shovels, hoes, pickaxes, axes, and armour. Diamonds can also be used to make other interesting items such as jukeboxes and enchanting tables.

It is an extremely valuable item that many players seek out whilst playing the game.

Finding diamond

Diamond can often seem a very elusive and hard to find element in Minecraft. However there are a few rules you can apply in order to give yourself the best opportunity of stumbling across it. The first thing to remember is that Diamond is usually found below the 18th lair of the Earth’s crust, so if you want to find Diamond you better get digging. Also getting to Diamond isn’t made easy once you find it, as it’s often in places such as just above lava pools, so you’ll have to work quite a bit in order to mine it. It is often best to check out the surrounding environment in order to reduce the chances of damage or destruction to both yourself and the diamond.

Another place that you may come across a diamond is in a treasure chest that can be found buried or hidden away underground. The most likely places that you will find a treasure chest containing a diamond will be in a village or an old abandoned mineshaft.

When you do find a diamond block it has a light turquoise blue pigment in it and can be mined with a diamond or iron pick axe. When you mine a diamond block it will drop one diamond that you can then pick up and collect.

Mining diamonds is not child’s play

In order to maximise your chances of finding diamond ore the use of the silk touch enchantment can be utilised. Once you find a diamond ore block it’s important to realise that diamond ore blocks are often located in touching distance with one another. This means you should mine the area around the diamond ore block that you find, especially on the diagonal to check if there’s more lying around waiting for you to mine it.

A good strategy that will increase your odds of finding not just diamond ore blocks but also other interesting and valuable ore is to practice branch mining. Branch mining works by digging down to just above the bedrock and then creating a long thin tunnel shaft that acts as a corridor travelling horizontally above the bedrock. Then you channel as many corridors is off the sides of your main tunnel as you like, just keeping them a few blocks apart. This creates an organised and strategic way of coming across many of the most interesting items.

Of course when you are mining the diamond you need to make sure that you set out on your mining journey with enough resources to make it worth your while. So, for example, if you are intending to do some large-scale branch mining in order to try and uncover diamond make sure you have the right tools and plenty of them. Of course you can use pre-existing tunnels and mine shafts in order to travel down to the bedrock in order to save wear and tear on your tools.

Another method that is popular with players that doesn’t require the corridors of branch mining is to dig down and then dig straight across horizontally until half of your tools are gone then loop around and dig straight back the other way. This allows you to get a lot of digging done and to cover a large distance in a very organised and straightforward way. However as with any method digging of down you must ensure you have safe passage back again. This is where items such as torches and ladders become really crucial.

What’s all the fuss about diamonds?

When you find a diamond it allows you to achieve and build a lot of fantastic tools and weaponry. The weapons and tools that you can make are extremely durable and tough. They are considered the highest level of item that you can create within the game. For example diamond armour is very durable and will enable you to stand a lot of punishment and attacks from mob foes such as creepers or zombies. Similarly a diamond pickaxe will last a long time and are more likely to dig through harder materials than other tools would allow you to do.

You can also make some cool items out of diamonds as well. Items such as jukeboxes, the enchanting table and solid diamond blocks can be crafted. Diamond blocks can be used for all sorts of interior design features on wonderful building projects.

Another element in the game that is highly sought after for its defensive properties, especially for creating things such as panic rooms, is obsidian. However in order for you to be able to mine obsidian you will need a diamond pickaxe, as this is the only tool durable enough to allow you to extract it.

Mining for diamonds is often a very exciting thing within the game, especially for new players. However it should be noted that there is no rush or desperation to find diamonds in the beginning. Many players end up becoming fixated on finding diamonds and don’t enjoy the process of building and crafting which they could be doing. It is true that Diamond is the highest-level element within the game but other elements will also get the job done albeit in a less effective and perhaps less exciting or enjoyable way. That being said if you do come across diamond ore you should make the effort to mine it and take the opportunity to gather some very valuable and extremely useful elements whilst you can.

Diamond is a raw material that stackable but is not renewable, so you will have to dig and mine for it in order to obtain it.

It is exactly what you think it is, an island which you need to survive on. Set yourself challenges by having to build 30 brick high houses with 20 or 30 windows in. Try and get yourself a cactus farm or tree farm underground.

In the survival island you need to well… survive of course, but it is a lot more difficult when you have very limited resources. Some of the things you take for granted on other survival maps will not be so readily available on the deserted island. Take care of any wood you find, it will be needed in the future.

Any saplings and seeds you find must be cherished as these are extremely useful for maintaining a life on the island.

There are a couple of rules you should adhere to as these make the map a lot more interesting.

• Difficulty Level should be atleast normal
• Do not leave the island
• No hacking of course

Some Brief Info

Survival island will allow you to feel the panic in being on an island, whilst being able to quit the game yes, but it can get very tense at times on the island. I tend to burrow down as soon as possible on this island, but the thing to be careful about is that at any time you might destroy the wrong sand block and get yourself stuck on an island where everything is flooded.

No resources is a big deal in Minecraft, especially on this map. I have played this map many times before and I keep going back to it, I don’t know why but it is so addictive!
