Minecraft flying mod

Minecraft is popular because it allows you to do some many interesting, unique, and quirky things. One thing that has become very popular is the ability to take to the skies. Depending on what minecraft flying mod you use this can open up a whole other branch to the game, and it’s one that is very interesting and empowering to any Minecraft player.

Let’s look at the following:

  • The benefits of using a Minecraft flying mod
  • The easiest way to get your first flying experience in Minecraft
  • Using the Minecraft flying mod: how to and pros & cons
  • Using the Minecraft Plane mod: how to and pros & cons

At the end of this article you’ll know whether you REALLY want to be able to fly, which Minecraft flying mod is right for you, and where to get it. Well let’s begin right away.

Benefits of using a Minecraft flying mod

View:The first benefit of using a Minecraft flying mod is being able to get a better of view of your surroundings. This means that you can get a bird’s eye view of the environment to help you find resources and plan where to build and dig. For example you may be building yourself some form of mega palace and decide that you need to build in a certain direction because of something you’ve noticed whilst hovering aloft. Alternatively you may decide you need to build a safe house, tree house, or panic room in a certain place because the terrain or location of your main building means you’ll be vulnerable whilst exploring certain areas of land.

Escape:The other about being able to fly is that it can be a very effective means of escaping zombies, creepers and other baddies. If you have a mob hot on your tail you can simply take to the skies for a while until things cool off. It can also be quite satisfying to seem them hungry for your blood but unable to explode all over you.

Travel: Also is there a more luxurious way to travel? Well there might be but flying is still pretty fun anyway. This mode of travel allows you to not only get where you want to, but with the added bonuses of the above two as well as being pretty darn fun in process. You hover above all the baddies so can travel hassle free, can find where you want to go to more easily, get to stake out the surroundings, and can pull of some interesting flying feats as well.

The bad: Now although the benefits of using a flying mod are great there are some considerations to make to whether you actually want to use a mod like this, because to a small extent it can detract from the game a little as well. The real draw back is that by using a flying mod you get all of the above advantages. Now I know we’ve just been talking about how great they are, but also they can take away the element of excitement from not being able to fly away from enemies and from having to actually explore through the terrain on foot rather than just seeing everything from above. The choice is yours and I would suggest you at least give it a go. However I do know a number of people who’ve gone back to Minecraft free from flying mods after a time because of this very reason.

Let’s get your wings working

Ok if you really want to experience flying without the hassle of having to add on mods and fundamentally changing certain playing characteristics of the game you can of course just have some fun in creative mode. Creative mode allows you to soar high up into the sky with a simple tap of the spacebar key. This means you can enjoy the benefits of flying without having to install anything. I would suggest you try this out for a while and if you think it’s for you then move on to one of the two options below. If after a few minutes you start to get a bit bored then it might suggest that actually you’d be best spending your time underground digging and probing instead.

The standard Minecraft flying mod

Zombes mod pack allows you to fly with all Minecraft modes amnd adds a huge amount to your playing options.

Pros:

  • Functions in all Minecraft modes. This includes both single and multi-player modes.
  • Currently functions in all Minecraft editions, including both newer and older versions.
  • Has other mods included that you will no doubt find interesting to play around with.
  • Has the no-clip option to ensure flying through solid options doesn’t happen, which ruins the game in my opinion.

Cons:

  • Will need you to alter your Minecraft files
  • Doesn’t feel as realistic as the next mod we will talk about. Just allows you to fly without the feeling real life physics.
  • Can be considered cheating or at least not playing within the standard game boundaries.

The awesome Minecraft plane mod

This is my favorite Minecraft flying mod. It allows you to fly but within the boundaries of the game. This means that you have to collect materials to build yourself a means of flying, in the case a really cool plane. Then whilst you are flying there are more flying parameters that you have to adhere, which makes things feel more realistic and fits well within the context of the game.

Pros:

  • You’re not just flying, you’re flying a plane! How amazing is that.
  • You have to work for your supper, so to speak. You have to collect materials to build planes.
  • It feels like you’re really flying, not gliding around outside of the gaming boundaries.
  • Functions in all Minecraft modes. This includes both single and multi-player modes.

Cons:

  • You will need to modify your standard Minecraft.
  • There can be a delay in its update as it is such a comprehensive mod.
  • If you want to just be able to fly outside of the gaming boundaries this won’t allow you to do so. You have to build your planes so it just depends on what you want from a mod.
